It's been two weeks since the "So You Think You Can Dance" finale.
I hate to admit it, but I miss that show! I started watching a few weeks after the top twenty were chosen. I missed the auditions and the painful self-elimination that kept showing up on commercials: the dancer that landed head first in an attempt to do a flip.
Why did I get hooked on the show? It had everything! Music, costumes, dance performances, drama, choreography, and the tweaked American democratic practice of voting. Yes, I voted. I voted more than once. I voted eight times. I voted for Heidi, Benji and Travis. Mostly, I voted for Benji and Heidi. I loved their confidence on stage, and I envied Heidi her excellent arms. I have a tendency to drop my elbows when I extend my arms.
Some of my Latin partners used to request my "flashy arms," which was when I would spiral telescope my right arm up and then twist my hand so it would look like an ostrich head. I always felt ridiculous doing it, but they liked it.
I usually can't stand contemporary/modern dance, but I became a big fan of Mia Michaels from watching this show. She's the short haired, blonde judge that choreographed Georgia on My Mind (with Travis and Donyelle), the bench number "Calling You" with Travis and Heidi, and the group number with the guys in black man-skirts.
The group number was done to a great song: "Hide And Seek" by Imogen Heap. There is a handy iTunes mix that has all of the songs from season 2. I also snagged "Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall. I am rationing my purchases out a little for fun. Libertango by Bond is next.

One of our family members is fascinated with how Latin hip motion works and how the little front kick happens before the dancers steps back. I told him you can demonstrate when they're in town next.
