Cleansing the Palate

I was in a store with Ltg Llama when she stopped at a scent diffuser. It's a bottle with reeds in it. The liquid perfume is drawn up through the reeds and the scent wafts off the end of the reeds.

There were little jars with sample scents and a little jar of coffee beans as well. She explained that it's a palate cleanser. You sniff a perfume sample, and follow up with a sniff of the coffee beans. Then sniff the next perfume sample. Otherwise, your nose can be "prejudiced" as you move from perfume to perfume.

Who knew there is such thing as a palate cleanser for the nose? I've only heard of it for wine--it's a bread or water or something, right?

I wish there was a palate cleanser for my head sometimes. There are some days when I have too much stuff rattling around up there!

That's what sitcoms are for. They're sort of a none-space in your head. Mildly amusing at best, a time filler to distance you from what troubles you while giving your brain something whimsical, if nonsensical to chew on.

Good to know about another use for coffee beans. There was a TV show about cooking with coffee beans once.
