One thing about the writers strike that was interesting: the writers may have stopped physically *writing*, but they didn't stop *thinking*. Whilst they were busy holding signs and shouting for internet residuals, ideas floated around in their heads and were refined. After the strike was over, I felt there was a nice jump in dialogue quality. Or maybe I just missed my favorite shows so much that I *willed* it to be so. The season-long story arcs got murdered because of the strike though (examples: Bones and the Angela-Hodgins' marriage saga) so I hope it doesn't happen again.
Joss Whedon was inspired by the strike too. I particularly like where he says:
"...I finally decided to do something very ambitious, very exciting, very mid-life-crisisy. Aided only by everyone I had worked with, was related to or had ever met, I single-handedly created this unique little epic. A supervillain musical, of which, as we all know, there are far too few."
Next week, he's releasing "Doctor Horrible" starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion on the web. See fan site here. Mark your calendar:
Yay!!! Something to look forward to before his new TV series Dollhouse with Eliza Dushku (Faith from Buffy) and Amy Acker (Fred from Angel) comes out. See trailer here.
