DWTS - Week 5

Wish it was double elimination week again this week. I'm ready to jettison the stars I don't like.

Chuck Wicks(Julianne's boyfriend): Not sure why the judges like him so much. I think it's the fixed smile and the overemphasis with the arms that bugs me.

Lawrence Taylor: This was pretty painful to watch. He needs to work on his flexibility.

Shawn Johnson : Super sweet. Nice classic moves. I liked the dress a lot and her hair/make up were very flattering.

Melissa (from the Bachelor): Too lightweight/not much conviction. V Waltz would have been better for her. Didn't like the music.

David Alan Grier: I liked the idea! Kudos to Kym for trying it. A bluesy V Waltz. Didn't quite work in parts but entertaining. Bruno said it all naming David's leg lift: the "dog and the hydrant" move. They need to watch themselves on video!! Oddly, for someone who was on "In Living Color," David doesn't seem to be enjoying the DWTS process at all.

Gilles: Nothing could top the Tango last week, but Gilles and Cheryl did a great job on the Paso Doble last night. I don't think I've ever seen Cheryl wearing so much clothing in my life! :)

Steve-O: I loved the music and Lacey's outfit. The Marcel Marceu outfit was eh. Steve-O needs to stop sticking his butt out so much. He's a weak dancer, but I'm drawn to watching him. It's like Carrie Ann said: there's an emotional quality to it. I'm happy to see a few more weeks of him in lieu of Lawrence Taylor or Chuck.

Ty Murray (the rodeo guy): Oh no! Robo-cowboy. Chelsie didn't do him any favors with the music selection of Barracuda. That was a really terrible Paso Doble.

The Serene One says the Paso gives you nowhere to hide. You have to be able to act so those people with one expression don't fare well. Hence, the fall of Melissa too.

Lil Kim: Nice!! Derek choreographed lots of nice lingering moments in.

Now for the results show: (SPOILER)
If Etta James is singing "At Last" live, you should freaking shave. Maks and Karina went all "sexy Latin" and I would have vastly preferred something classy.

The bottom three were Ty, Lawrence and David Alan Grier. I was sure Lawrence was going to go. I was wrong. AHHHHH! Poor David, not appreciated enough.

I'm with you on the double elimination. Watched both couples under the red light and thought - send them all home!

At least the ratio of really good: pretty good:awful is much, much better now.

Ty is a third tier dancer who is dancing in the second tier. Good for him, but it's going to be hard to hang on much longer. I hope LT goes first though - he looks so miserable.
