Several people have asked me if I've seen "the rat movie." But of course!! How nice of you to ask! My exceedingly biased recommendation shouldn't surprise you. It's funny, touching and beautifully rendered. Go see Ratatouille!

The detail in the film is so well done. There's the realistic: Remy the rat's frantic wall-hugging scurry across the kitchen floor; his swiveling, semi-transparent ears and little pink paws. There's the fanciful: Remy using all his body weight to turn a range dial and propping a ladle against a pot for a ladder.

Paris is rendered wonderfully. The atmosphere just rolls off the screen. Makes me want to go back.

My rat newsgroup is spending post after post discussing the movie and related merchandise. Ah, the power of the internet: to unite people with strange obsessions!

I love the Paris and the charcoal sketch of Ratatouille in your blog. We'll go see it next week. Yay!
I haven't seen a movie in ages but your write-up makes me want to.
