Underwater Plateau

My recovery has plateaued over the last two days. Much to my frustration.

Last night, in an effort to be decongested for a dance performance, I fizzed some Alka Seltzer Cold and Sinus tablets and drank it down. Then took a forty minute ride in stop-and-go traffic. The result was me feeling nauseous *and* burping constantly. Plus, my congestion didn't go away.

By the time my neon orange wig was afixed and we were warmed up, the burping had disappeared. Unfortunately, the other symptoms were still there. Combined with my having missed rehearsal on Thursday, let's just say my contribution to the performance was not a shining moment. I think my medication contributed to the slightly out-of-body, underwater sensations that I had.

They sometimes put microphones in the helmets of linebackers in the NFL so television viewers can get instant, on-the-ground commentary. I think if I had been miked last night it would have been something like this:

[ This section has been edited for polite audiences]

Sigh.

Luckily, I was distracted from my misery while mingling with some of the guests at the lovely ball held in honor of DM and T's 2nd wedding anniversary. DM has the best collection of suits. He always looks so smooth. T was wearing a fabulous satin number.

I saw Tall K, who looked lovely in a purple dress. Her blue stuffed lizard Iggy met with an unhappy fate. I provided her with a supplemental rainbow frog to soften the blow.

Like last year, I was astonished by how many smiling faces we recognized and who recognized us. It's like the Pied Piper (except without the drowning rats in the river). You pick up friends and acquaintances through the years and don't realize how many you've accumulated until they're in one room. The Serene One has picked up recognition independent of me in the dance community as well! One of his former dance classmates stopped and chatted with him for a while.

Hope that you feel better soon! Being in a haze is no fun. I'm glad that you and S-O had a nice time talking to folks. Did you see Dr. K and Dr. J, who were in from Baltimore?

Polite? Clearly you haven't heard me at any meetings lately....

Football players look forward to the next game, can't dwell on the past game. There's a lot of good philosophy and strategy that I have learned from football.

Great to have friends.
