All The Right Moves

A few songs have caught my ear recently. I'm late to the party and they've all been out for a while.

OneRepublic's All the Right Moves has a great video. Supposedly, the band wanted to keep things abstract to leave the meaning open to interpretation. Love the glowing vintage microphone. There is some nice couple dancing that Wikipedia says is Edwardian--Lady M, I'm counting on you to weigh in here. I like the dancing a lot more than in Taylor Swift's Love Story. Probably because the band didn't do any of the dancing. Taylor is pretty cool, but her (and Romeo's) posture is very 21st century.

Second, The Script's Breakeven (Falling To Pieces). The opening lyric: "I got time while she got freedom" just pulls you in. They're an Irish band, so I thought it was interesting that the cars are left hand drive in the video.

Finally, Alexander Rybak's Fairytale. This was Eurovision's 2009 winning act. Rybak was born in Belarus but raised in Norway. The dance group, Frikar, in the background is performing bits of the Norwegian folk dance called Halling. The song is super catchy, though I don't really understand the lyrics too well.

He's got hair like Zac Efron/Justin Beiber. There's an official Alexander Rybak youtube channel which showcases some great video production values. The hiphop/rap in Norwegian number is catchy, though you won't find me attempting those lyrics anytime soon. ;)

I love Alexander! Thanks for the links. I went over to his website to check out a few videos. A very polished act indeed.

I also liked the One Republic video. The dancing was fun. I think the dance and costumes were meant to evoke Edwardian-ish music hall with a modern twist.
