Chuck By Any Other Name

The Serene One and I have gotten hooked on the television show "Chuck." The main character is an engineering major who got kicked out of Stanford and is working at the local Buy More electronics store. Through subliminal programming, he ends up with a top secret database in his head and ends up working with CIA/NSA agents to solve crimes.

The best part of the show? All the fantastic nerdy references. For Halloween, the CIA agent dresses up as Princess Leia and Chuck (with best friend Morgan) dresses up as a sandworm from Dune.

Weirdly enough, there are fictional characters named Chuck showing up everywhere. In addition to the movie "Good Luck Chuck," there's Chuck from Gossip Girl:

and Chuck from Pushing Daisies (here she is on the far right of Kristen Chenoweth):

Not sure what has prompted this sudden popularity. One thing is clear though: Chuck always shows up as a brunette.

Are you actually admitting to have watched Gossip Girl? I've seen it a few times...

I'm really enjoying both "Chuck" and "Pushing Daisies." Even Mr. 1950s likes "Daisies," I think it's the stylization. And the knitting references, oh, the knitting references. Makes my little heart go pitter-pat ;-)
