My motivation to get outdoors for my daily walk has been on the decline due to shorter days, a nasty workload and the cooling temperature.
I've been trying different things: I loaded my iPod with The Serene One's hard rock/metal selections. Only worked once. I went without music. Also only worked once. I downloaded a few free sessions of Stanford's "Geography of World Cultures," but it didn't really capture me. I learned a bunch of stuff. For example, Somalia is not really a nation but a conglomeration of various regions for administrative purposes. Ultimately, you have to ask yourself, is learning geography through an audio broadcast remotely effective? It's like practicing piano on the edge of a table. You get the idea, but you're missing something really important.
In a fit of desperation, I bought the audiobook "Pants on Fire" by Meg Cabot. A book I've been dying to read but too stingy (both moneywise and shelfspacewise) to purchase in hardback. Let me tell you--it worked like a charm. I've been eagerly getting my shoes on and heading out the door all week in order to find out if Katie Ellison is going to hook up with Tommy Sullivan.
The problem: it's only 6 hours long. What the heck do I buy next?

You can borrow free book cassette tapes from the library-but who has a walkman nowadays.
A dog.
Or possibly two itty bitty leashes for the girls.
Good strategy!
Good idea!
