I was at the mall today Christmas shopping for The Serene One. As I passed through the fine china section at Macy's, I remembered some remarks I overheard a few years ago between a couple registering for their wedding.
Girl: I really like this pattern.
Guy (holding up a piece of crystal stemware): Honey, this stuff is too expensive. We're going to have to ask our friends to put down a deposit when they come over for dinner!

I definitely believe there's a correlation between cost of china and frequency of use..that's why we have inexpensive china that we use a lot!
