Drive-in

We took the little guy to his first movie last night: Madagascar 3. We decided to go to a drive-in so Serene Jr. could talk and move around as much as he liked and so we could control the volume.  We brought a little battery radio so we wouldn't have to drain the car battery.  Well, no need to worry about that.  We just rolled down the windows and listened to everyone else's sound system.  There were tons of kids running around in pajamas.  It was good.  Unfortunately, screen time started at 8:55pm because it doesn't get dark until late.  Serene Jr. didn't have a problem with that but I did.  I fell asleep during a critical part of Afro Circus.  Bummer.

The movie (at least the parts that I saw) was good. Strange to hear the movie penguin voices again.  We're so used to the TV show voices. I think only Skipper crossed over.  On our way out, we caught pieces of Snow White and the Huntsman, The Avengers, MIB3 and Prometheus.  Cars were rolling in for the late night showings too.

Funny, Vera went to her first drive-in movie last night and saw the same film. :)

How fun! I'll have to find a drive-in around here.

Oh my gosh, I was just telling my husband (before the Google drive-in themed doodle) that this summer we HAD to find a drive-in and take the kids. Fun memories from our childhood that are hard to share now.

We haven't managed to do this yet because the start time is so late. We really should fix that this summer!
