New Year Fort

Cupcake has finally adjusted to Oreo's absence. She had a few weeks when she wouldn't leave the cage and did a lot of moping. Now, she will come out voluntarily to play.

We used to split our time playing with the two of them. Now that she bears the brunt of the attention, Cupcake draws the line very clearly. When she's had enough petting, she puts one paw on my finger and pushes it away. She also looks at us, turns her back and tucks her head down very deliberately to feign sleep.

Her latest attempt to create her own space was to construct a fort in the cage:

She sticks her nose out from under the blanket to sniff for snacks.
